Yes, it is smaller, but if it doesn't have the tools to build lfs...
Also the LFS LiveCD contains 150MB worth of source packages, the LFS
book, various automation tools (nalfs, jhalfs) and xfce with
firefox/thunderbird (or seamonkey depending on which CD) and other
programs. The LFS LiveCD is still pretty small considering the sources
and other stuff squeezed on it.
