Well, my first build was LFS-3.3 and it went without a hitch, several times,
in fact.
My current box was built from a CVS LiveCD dated 2004-04-06.
My recent attempts at building have been endless looping through the build
process, but, in fairness, I'm trying to build a pure-64 system on my Dual
Opteron from my existing build, and was trying to get udev working while it
was still under heavy development and needed a newer kernel than was in the
book. I see these have now advanced greatly, I just haven't had time to start
again yet!
So, overall, I think the book is quite comprehensive, as long as you have a
good basic understanding of the Linux build process and using basic tools.
Cheers,
John Gay
