I have also KDE(QT) installed without Mesa, and well it keeps tracking
me, i probably going for a reinstall of those apps after installing
Mesa. OpenGL is used more then you might think ;)
KDE and QT will run fine without Mesa, and like it says, it is
optional for the library's
If you can Mesa install without any problems, do it :) If you get
errors and stuff and takes too much time, you can probably forget it,
until you reach the day you want to run an app which requires OpenGL
:)
