Aw, beauty! That worked well!
Except that sudo has a snit fit over "export".
(I should explain that while I'm saying that, that I have a big dippy
grin on my face. The reason being that every time I trip over something
like that, I'm learning yet another thing which will put me on the path
to being a super-admin. So thanks.)

Anyway, I'm now perched once again, with great fear and trepidation, on
the precipice of Chapter 5. And I am once again baffled by:
mkdir -v ../binutils-build
cd ../binutils-build
../binutils-2.16.1/configure yadda yadda yadda

Is binutils-build (and for that matter, are the build directories for
all of Chapter 5) supposed to be in $LFS or in $LFS/sources? Because,
having just unpacked binutils-2.16.1 from sources, I'm in sources, and
the .. kind of throws me off. Yet the third command seems to have me in
a subdirectory of sources (which is where binutils-2.16.1 is).
