No, get a thicker skin - this is a technical list ;-) I wasn't trying to attack you, but if you call yourself 'deadly earnest' you are setting yourself up. Anyway, people manage to use gmail without top-posting, it must be one of the options hidden away in it. Funnily enough, google can probably point to other people moaning about gmail users top-posting and find a response on how to alter it. I know there was a long thread about mail clients on lkml earlier this year, for example. Work through the responses and try the various options until you find a config which boots. After that, all you have to do is beat the orinoco into shape. Yes, I'm deliberately trying to make this sound easy, I know that in practice it might need several attempts for each of the two problems. Probably, you should try selecting everything which looks helpful, in the hope that you can get a version which boots. Change the LOCALVERSION for each build so that it doesn't overwrite the modules, and keep any useful kernel images. After it boots, and you get orinoco working (as I said earlier, you might need pcmciautils if it is on a pcmcia card), you can try removing options you don't think you need, and retesting, until you strike a balance between not building more than you think should be necessary, and the diminishing returns from rebuilding. Good luck! ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
