I assume you have checked that you didn't miss anything, and that your system complies with the minimum requirements. If this was a desktop, I would now wonder if you had ventilation problems, or were overclocking it, but neither is likely on a laptop. Your new compiler appears to function for simple programs, but not for anything stressful. Maybe you should try running memtest86 or memtest86+. Perhaps you could watch the display in 'top' while running the tests - perhaps you are running out of memory.
