You can get it from http://www.memtest.org/ Put it in /boot and add an entry to the boot menu: Assuming grub-legacy with a separate boot partition: title Ubuntu 9.04, memtest86+ kernel /memtest86+.bin Reboot and select that entry. Follow the prompts.
