I found that the 'groups' issues identified on the hint page have been addressed in LFS 6.7 (stable) with the chapter's first 'sed' and 'find/sed' executions. So the 'sed' execution lines in the hint are redundant. > Please let me know what you think about the build notes and what you > find out about the shadow man pages. The man page language issues with permissions can be handled as your notes indicate, as the hint indicates (except in shadow-n.n.n/man/Makefile.am rather than man/Makefile) or by using --disable-nls parameter on ./configure (see ABOUT-NLS in shadow-n.n.n.man/) Finally, the su.1 man page issue apparently has been addressed as well, so that can be ignored. Currently, I have an altogether different problem. Shadow is not installing all files, and I may have screwed things up. Even though install indicated success and the logs looked good, some files did not install. Now I have to try to undo the install and configuration. Then figure out why conversion utilities and configuration files were not installed. Once I figure it out, I'll reply here. Of course any insight the list may have is appreciated.
