I figure that more information is usually better when diagnosing...
Additional Details about the LFS Host System environment and specifics to this installation: The system hardware is rather old... to say the least: Toshiba Satellite 1670CDS (What can i say? It was free! :) ) -Celeron Coppermine 550MHz maxed out with 160MB RAM I don't think that should be a problem for LFS (...other than a 2.5-day build for the bootstrap of GCC), and my goal is a very basic platform for a laptop for my kid. The Host System is Ubuntu 12.04 Live CD booted into Text Mode. The only change to the Host system was a manual install of Gawk to satisfy a Glibc installation requirement. Instead of linux-3.5.2 that was part of the wget-list for LFS 7.2, the kernel I am using for LFS is linux-3.5.7 (only the headers to this point in the process). I don't believe that I have deviated from the basic framework of the LFS 7.2 book otherwise, so unless there's something wrong with the changes noted above, my issue is most likely related to a command mistake.
