If you're using MySQL, I would recommend switching to the SQLite
backend. I
dont remember how to do it though, but it should be something in the
akonadiserverrc file. With the SQLite backend, Akonadi takes up alot less
than 100% on 1 core.

I hope this helps.

It might. A search says to set up akonadiserverrc with:

1 [%General]
2 Driver=QSQLITE3

[QSQLITE3]
Name=/home/serafean/.local/share/akonadi/akonadi.db

[Debug]
Tracer=null

Probably changing the Name path or from the message:

"The only line you need to change is the Driver line, the rest is filled
with defaults on first run."

I suspect I need to rebuild Qt to add that DB though.

I did rebuild Qt to add both mysql (mariadb) and sqlite. Restarting kde with mysql as the akonadi db did not work, but changing akonadiserverrc to only have lines 1 and 2 above got it working.

top right now shows a load of about 0.1. Everything now seem sto be working normally.
