This is LFS-7.5 ? If so, setting up the keyboard is covered in section 7.10, Configuring the Linux Console. If this is a laptop keyboard, a few keys will probably have odd values - that might explain the up arrow. Does this keyboard work correctly in your host system ? I assume you could not get this far if it was badly broken. What is the layout of your keyboard ? The default (if you do not specify anything) is the U.S. QWERTY layout. And what did you specify in /etc/sysconfig/console ? Probably, we should check all the entries there, in case it is a problem with the encoding.
