Doesn't sound like a problem with the LFS howto...it's a problem with your distro or current setup. So, shouldn't you be searching other sites for help too? For example, search google like this: "/usr/bin/tzselect: line 439: : No such file or directory" and you might find this - http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=15348, which suggests "apt-get install tzdata" as a fix. Perhaps it will...or search more @ Google for specific shortcomings and issues on your box. ~PK
