May I suggest that after the instruction to "make check", there should be a 
sentence like:
"Unlike many packages, glibc does not display its test results on the console 
but stores them in a file called tests.sum."

This would save other people from the tiresome error I made of logging the 
check output for later analysis, only to find that it consists entirely of 
reports on building the test tools.
