I do all the checks before a release as a sanity check. I also think the checks are more important for new users or running on non x86* systems.

For experienced users, the checks can be omitted.

The problem is: what can you conclude after testing when out of the 500
tests, 48 fail, what does that mean?

If it is significantly different from what we have in the book, then something is wrong and should probably be investigated.
