My guess is that it would work fine. You only need it long enough to
build the temporary toolchain. If in doubt, when building the new
GCC's, remove the "--disable-bootstrap" option. Granted those take an
insanely long time to build, but it would answer the question for
certain. I've used it before to double-check.
