Hey Paul, Thanks for all the guidance and pointers.
I fear my writing skills have slipped, as what I intended as off-the-cuff one-liners are coming through too literally. I apologize. LFS is an amazing project, and there's so, so, so much I don't know. I got through my first build by blindly following the recipes, and not taking the time to read up on what I was building. That's why I've started over - trying to learn and read more, taking my time. I know why my kernel build went sideways and ended up being able to boot Manjaro - I built it without being in the chroot environment. I'm embarrassed to admit such a stupid mistake, but I did it. So, as you say, I will put out some "skull sweat" and try to comprehend this, as opposed to just "doing" it. I've got plenty of questions, but they're OT for this email chain... perhaps I'll see you on IRC one of these days. Cheers, -Scott
