So it doesn't even ask for password, does it? Means it is not a
permission problem. There are several possibilities, of which two
follows:
- disk full: go back to host, and test that.
- login somehow not working. One way to see the error message is to go
back to host, mount the virtual fs, chroot as told in "Cleaning up" at
the end of chapter 6, and entering "login <username>".

Note that the second test could tell you about the first possible
issue...
