Hello, problem with LFTP

HI, there,   Sorry to disturb, thanks for creating lftp, it makes my life easier, but however, I am facing some problem here,  when I am not connected to internet, LFTP will try forever to connect ,without timeout, My question is how do I add a timeout to exit LFTP after 5 secs. I tried editing with /etc/lftp.conf, it doesn’t seem working, is there any problem directly editing and saving on the file itself...
