In a way that I don't understand. I have sent patches before with the same
setup, and the patches had the correct author name when I sent them. This
time, Patchwork rewrote the author name when picking it from the ML. (Why
it has done so is totally beyond me.)

But such incident shouldn't occur in the future, since I have changed the
name in my mail settings.
