The "less work" part alone could actually be an argument for working on
the ffmpeg codebase only :) there you get the libav fixes and more
possible fixes (or bugs, but still, I prefer working on fresher code).
However I guess this was debated to death, let's not waste too much time
on this discussion.

The actual question is, how do I get changes I need from ffmpeg into
libav?
