Well, having MP4Box functionality integrated under the wings of libav would indeed be very beneficial. Do you know what the toughts in the Gpac team are; do they want to continue doing their own thing? From an non-commercial end user perspective, I guess MPEG-DASH will not fly until we see content creation support for it in libav/FFmpeg/GStreamer, but that's just my 5 (€) cents on the matter.
