I am trying to watch blu-rays from disc on mplayer (i am running 64-bit
linux). I am able to watch blu-rays that have dolby digital 5.1 tracks
and DTS 5.1 tracks but I am not able to get any sound from discs with
only trueHD tracks. i've read that ffmpeg is supposed to support
MLP/TrueHD decoding (as a part of the libavcodec library) but i can't
get it to work. what happens is that mplayer will play the video but it
will not play the audio. in the console, if i type:

$ mplayer -cache 8192 -lavdopts threads=4 -fps 24000/1001 -ac ffmlp -vid
4113 -aid 4352 -channels 6 -

then i get output:

TS file format detected.
VIDEO H264(pid=4113) NO AUDIO! NO SUBS (yet)! PROGRAM N. 1
FPS seems to be: 23.976025

I apologize if this is not the appropriate place to post this question
but i have been searching and trying to figure this problem out for a while.

any ideas on how i can get mplayer to use the MLP/TrueHD decoder in
ffmpeg's libavcodec library properly? I would really appreciate it.
