You can look for the library with
locate libfaac.so

On my Gentoo system,
pkg-config --libs libavcodec
gives me
-lavcodec -lm -lz -la52 -lx264 -lxvidcore -lfaac -lfaad -ldl -lX11
-lXext -logg -lavutil
