Yes, what you said is correct. Thank you very much. I am able to compile my
program finally as:

gcc -o tutorial01 tutorial01.c <list of libraries>. The libraries are used are 

lavutil 
lavformat 
lavcodec 
lz 
lavutil 
lm
lfaac 
lfaad 
lmp3lame 
lx264 
ltheora 
lxvidcore
