Mark, thanks for that info, i'll look in to yuvkineco. Your assumption is slightly incorrect. The program i maintain grabs still frames from various sources of video stream, and I intend the program to be able to function autonomously with any kind of stream that ffmpeg can chew on, which no special interaction or knowlege of the stream required from the user. However, this recent video has been causing me problems; it's the first video i've come across with telecine, and an ideal solution would be to be able to detect that the video is in fact 2:3 pulldown, and then be able to automatically align and then decode back into the source progressive frames.
