ah, now I understand: fixed by changing the default value in the init 
script.

However, on my system (Ubuntu 10.04), I don't have a /etc/sysconfig folder.
I'm not sure whether that file would be supposed to reside into the 
/etc/default/ folder, instead, on such distro.
