 Dear Friend and Freedom-Lover,

Please join us and attend the Manhattan Libertarian Party Annual Convention!
It's this Saturday, January 21st, 2006. Business meeting sign-up starts at 2pm,
cocktails and dinner registration at 5pm.

We meet in the Banquet Hall of the luxurious and beautiful Ukrainian East
Village Restaurant, 140 Second Avenue between 9th Street & St. Mark's Place,
featuring full wait service, complete cash bar, beers of Eastern Europe and the
delicacies and recipes that made the Ukraine the epicenter of Eastern cuisine,
which the Russian czars could only dream of.

Our special guests will be our special keynote speaker, Mr. James Bovard,
author of the famous "Feeling Your Pain", "Attention Deficit Democracy", and
"The Bush Betrayal"; Fred Cookinham, author of "The Age of Rand: Imagining an
Objectivist Future World"; and Letitia James, NYC Councilmember and author of
anti-eminent domain legislation; and several other exciting surprise guests.

A video crew from C-SPAN television network will attend the Convention on
Saturday to profile Mr. Bovard, so it looks like the MLP will be featured
nationally and perhaps internationally yet again (nothing new for us--remember
"Guns for Tots", the "Unauthorized Protest" in Central Park, and our "Penny
Poker Tournament"?).

Plus, we will have a special 50/50 Cash Prize raffle with the super "Giant MLP
Jackpot", where you can win hundreds of dollars with just a single ticket; an
MLP Silent Auction with exciting pro-freedom literature and merchandise; and
copies of our brand-new edition of Serf City, the Manhattan LP's hard-hitting
newspaper being distributed throughout Manhattan.

Also, there will undoubtedly be plenty of spirited and impassioned debate
during the entire day, including the dramatic and impressive MLP Annual
Convention business meeting. (Anyone can join the MLP this Saturday for $15 and
participate immediately in voting for our new resolutions, Chapter business,
and for our new County Committee officers. You can even run to be one of our
officers if you are inclined to "throw your hat in the ring" and fight for
freedom!).

You can still attend the Convention by registering at the door on Saturday at
2pm or 5pm. All the information you need can be found on the registration form
by clicking this link (just remember, because the Convention is several days
away, you must register Saturday at the door):

We in the Manhattan LP feel we have earned your trust and support over the
years when it comes to fighting for freedom and libertarian principles in New
York City. With the launch of Serf City newspaper, we've entered a new era in
NYC Libertarian outreach. But when we put on our Convention each year, we have
to compete for your attendance just like any other activity and group you can
choose to spend time and money on. This year's Convention is going to be
especially captivating, entertaining, and thought-provoking. Our speakers are
the best. The discussion will be incisive and enthralling. I'm confident
there's nowhere I'd rather be this Saturday in New York.

So, we hope to see you there! Don't give up on Liberty just yet--we're not
going to.

"Suppose the Second Amendment said, 'A well-educated Electorate, being
necessary for self-governance in a free State, the right of the people to keep
and read Books, shall not be infringed.' Is there anyone who would suggest that
means only registered voters have a right to read?"
--Georgetown University professor Robert Levy

Nic Leobold, an admitted gun-nut, says:
"Buy a gun today and protect your family and loved ones from bad people. Avoid
crime, terrorism, civil unrest or a tyrannical government with your [choose
one] God-given/moral/ethical/civil/individual/human right to protect yourself
and exercise self-defense. Don't worry, you already have a license, permit and
registration for it, it's called your voter registration card or state I.D.
Don't listen to politicians and bought-and-paid-for police chiefs who claim you
don't." -Nic
(Amendment II of the Bill of Rights, Constitution of the United States,
guarantees that ".the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be
infringed.") ("Self-defense and survival is the prime directive and right of
every human. No government, organization, group, authority or entity supersedes
or is greater than any man, woman or child. The individual, not the group or
nation, is the basic building block and supreme unit of any civilized society,
and the well-being of all individuals through their individual autonomy comes
before any considerations of the group or nation. Therefore gun ownership and
possession by the individual is a fundamental and basic natural right which
absolutely must be preserved." -Nic Leobold)

"Gun nuts" are otherwise reasonable, respectful people who believe that all
human beings have a human right to defend themselves and their loved ones by
owning and carrying guns for self-protection; and that guns are the easiest and
safest way for the vast majority of people, including elderly, women and the
disabled and handicapped, to effectively practice self-defense; but these
reasonable, respectful people have been pigeon-holed and stereotyped as
"radicals", "loonies", "militia types", "country hicks", and "rednecks",
because intellectuals think you have to be crazy or live in the South to want
to have a gun. That's why some of us call ourselves "gun nuts". It's a
sarcastic and ironic comment on the folly of our present-day political
correctness and slavish worship of and acquiescence to authority and the
government. But I can tell you, there's nothing sarcastic or ironic about being
mugged, assaulted or threatened, as often happens here in the big city. So be
prepared-buy a gun. -Nic the gun nut
