You're right, Geof, but as Steven said, much of the leadership and most 
influential members (and therefore our public image) are and "MUST be" 
purist, dogmatic, and far, far out of the mainstream--too far to ever 
make a positive impression on the average American. It's going to take 
a lot of work to change that. See
