Very good, I also think it is a good idea to explain to people why NAP is important to their well being and interest and that of their family and friends because so many do not look at things from a larger ethical prespective. I also think it is important to point out that all violations of NAP are not equal and that even in the case of killing an innocent person where no other choice was possible except to die ( a la the cornered Rat) mercy can be shown by the jury. On the other hand politicans have often claimed necessaity in taking innocent lives but most of the time it may have been deprieved heart murder or at least negeligent homicide. Congress and the President are rarely ever really judged on these matters, oh they may get pushed out of office, wrote badly about in a few history books but they will still not ( except in a rare case) be responsible for their actions in fact so often they still will collect their pensions, be able to collect hughe salaries as a Lobbyist to Congress, collect hughe speaking fees, huge advances for book deals, be honored by monuments and in the case of the president with a library in his name ( which in the case of Clinton someones property was taken from them to build). If we continue to hold politicans to a lower standard it will bury civil society. On the contrary they should be held to a much higher standard than the non politicans.--- In [email protected], "Terry L Parker" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Here's a sort of sociological 'unified field theory' > for the politics of a free society; > as discussions can be more meaningful > and may be more beneficial > if people define their terms. > > > PUBLIC morality: that which is right/wrong for all persons. > > Libertarian 'public morality' can be thought of as > reciprocal comprehensive physical autonomy for each person; > It is consistency to a 'physical aggression truce' > that can be expressed as: > > each person may do anything that they individually > choose to do of their own free will EXCEPT initiate, > or do a credible threat to initiate, physical force > against the person or justly acquired possessions > of another (yes, this does also address fraud) > > > PRIVATE morality: that which is right/wrong for persons > in private association (congregation, civic club, business > and so on) The specifics can be as arbitrary as is mutually > agreed upon by consenting persons in voluntary association. > > > PERSONAL morality: that which is right/wrong for an individual > person.
