Unless I missed something, your refutation consisted of 'no it
didn't.'  That doesn't quite qualify.

Inflation and unemployment were both higher in the '70s thanks to

the disaster that was the Carter administration.
Don't confuse the California real estate boom and the effect it has
had on cost of living with the state of the economy.  People have more
disposable income than ever.  The fact the cost of living is so high
in some places can be directly attributed to socialist policies which
restrict housing availability and the public employee pensions which
are bankrupting the economy.
Of course, you also never mention the cost of socialist federal
retirement and health care, 1.2 TRILLION just for this year!  The cost
of social programs DWARFS any military spending and it is just plain
disingenuous to ignore that when complaining about the cost of the
military.
I'll take the military budget over the social welfare budget any day
of the week.
