Those who issue calls to bar "nonconforming" members from office or even to expell them from the party fail to understand that no one has the power to define Libertarianism to the exclusion of other definitions.
Any political party is defined by its members at any one given time and place and that definition can be altered anytime the membership chooses to do so. There is no "core belief" that is immutable, not subject to interpretation, or which must taken as received truth from on high lest one be struck by thunderbolts. You can stamp your little feet and hold your breath until you turn purple but no display of pique, no amount of huffing and puffing about how you say that "Libertarians must believe that..." can change that reality.
