Quoth Eric Dondero:

> This morning we learn that Al Jaffari has stepped aside and a new
Prime Minister has been elected in Iraq.  Shots of Iraqi election
ballots being counted shown on Fox News.

If Fox News is showing "shots of Iraqi election ballots being
counted," then those shots are from January's parliamentary election.
The Prime Minister isn't chosen by popular election, he's asked to
serve by the president based on internal parliamentary coalition
support which is formally sealed by an internal parliamentary vote.

> But where are the Libertarians?

Dry, sober and at home with their wives.

>   Why no kudos to the Iraqis for a job well done in establishing
> democracy?

Democracy? Sure -- if you consider a de fact Iranian proxy government
"democracy." But if the US considers Iran a "democracy," why is it so
intent on "regime change" in Iran. And if it doesn't, how is giving
Iraq an Iranian proxy government a "victory?"

The new PM-apparent is Nouri Jawad al-Maliki, is a veteran activist of
the Dawa Party, Iraq's hardcore Shiite Islamist party. After fleeing
Iraq, he went to Iran for several years and then operated out of Syria
as head of Dawa's "Jihad Office." Yeah. Some democrat.

>   Why no celebrations among Libertarians that finally, freedom and
> democracy are on the march in a major Middle Eastern country?

Libertarians usually celebrate after there's some actual evidence to
support the notion that what they're celebrating has actually happened.

As opposed to spinning fairy tales like you do?
