Sam, it was meant to be a serious question. It has been many years
since I have lived in New York (City) and so I have not paid much
attention to what has been written about the problems of government
monopoly in that place. I am sure that there have been studies done
and papers written on ways to remove the city from the transit
business (as well as the police, firefighting and sanitation
businesses and return those industries to private entrepreneurs. If
you want me to, I will try to find some of them (though you would
probably have better and easier access to them than I).
