Actually social security and medicare aren't a legal promise
according to the Supreme Court in the 1950s, they are government
social programs that Congess can cut at will and give to who they
want or not give such as a deported Communist or seniors with incomes
over 30,000 a year or real estate worth more than 200,000 dollars.
The Amish said it was against there faith to pay into an social
security insurance program besides they said they took care of their
old folks, they provided for them, the courts ruled again that it was
not insurance but a tax for a program, although the Medicare bill of
1965 did exempt self employed Amish from paying social security and
medicare tax, largely due to public out cry of the mistreatment of
the Amish in Iowa by school authorites.
Of course politicans and bureuctats, even some teachers and
media people did mislead people into assuming social security was and
is a insurance program, that there is an actual trust fund so this
has the potentional of possible law suits including class action
suits.
The government except maybe the local or county should get out
of the health care or health care providing business including
medicare and they should largely get out of the healthcare and drug
regulation business and get out of the intellectual property business
of drug patents.--- In [email protected], "John Stroebel"
