Do to the large number of small towns holding 4th of july celebrations some towns hold theres on the 1st, this year Garden, Michigan held theres on the 1st. Delta county decided to tests its emrgency response on the 1st, and of al the places in Garden. This itself was foolish, but even more so was that not only did they send county sherrifs and state troopers to Garden around 11pm after a long day of 4th of July drinking, they also send a Department of Natural Resources officer. This is the ranger rick of Michigans state forrests. For some nessisary background information, DNR are not popular on the Garden Peninsula, many individuals poach deer for feed and to protect fields and gardens. While wrong under the law, that had little to do with the 4th of July on the 1st, the DNR officer did not need to be there nor did they need to test the emergency response system in Garden on the 1st at 11pm. The inevitable is that home made firecrackers blew out the window of the DNR vehicle, the police got out of there vehicles closed down the local bars and demanded that the crowed of DRUNKS "Get in there cars and drive home." Normaly the most excitment in garden is one or two 5 minute fights and an excess of small explosives. This year we got a few hours of police confrentation over closing bars in a town that has little other source of income or entertainment, and headlines such as Garden Explodes and Garden Riot.
