I think that what Chuck was saying, Thomas, is that if 
some "members" who voted for the pledge had realized that the pledge 
also rejected government violence against individuals (not just 
violence of individuals against the government), they would have 
voted to eliminate it along with many of the platform planks against 
government violence.
