This afternoon I read that the House was finally going to discuss the Voting Rights Act. As it has been stalled, and deals directly with the rights of all Americans to vote. I wanted my Congresswoman to know my thoughts and I wanted to know this Republican/neocon's plans.
This is the same Barbara Cubin who recently stated at a press conference that it was an 'honor' to be taken to task by Moveon.com. When they answered my call at their DC office, I stated my name and asked if there was someone I could speak with about this discussion on the floor of the House. I was put on hold. After 5 minutes, a man came on the phone. He asked me why I was calling her office when I was told not to....????? I replied I did not understand the question, what was he talking about and why would ANY constituent be told not to call their rep? He replied that I had been told i had 'lost my privilege' to contact her office except by regular mail. I still did not understand, and thought it strange that someone in her office referred to the people there as 'they'. I asked the man who he was, and he gave me a name. I asked what he did at the office, and it was then I was told he was an investigator for the Capitol Police. HE went on to tell me that I had been reported for harassment by Ms Cubin, and that I was presently being investigated. I was floored. He told me that this was because of questions I had asked her staff, and it all clicked. Last March I had been told of a very weird and outlandish situation with Ms Cubin when she was a state senator. She had taken the seat previously held by Dick Cheney. I was told that early in her first term, MS Cubin, for some unknown reason, had baked a tray of cookies shaped like male sex organs. She had brought them to the floor of the Wyoming Assembly and passed them out in front of reporters gathered for the photo op. Then, she had make a great to-do of eating some for the photographers. This sounded too unbelievable even for THIS person. Where I come from, when you hear something like this, you go to the person if you have a question, and I did exactly that. I called one of the state offices and asked if this was true and for some explanation. THe person who answered the phone suddenly went quiet, and after a long pause told me someone would get back to me. When a week passed, I decided to look into it myself. Sure enough, through a google search I found the original news article on this, and it is all true. If you are curious, put in Barbara Cubin, cookies and male genitalia. Now, even though this was true, and it was done on the floor of the Wyoming Assembly, and it is public knowledge, and it was reported in the papers, she finds my questions about it 'harassment' and has reported me to the Federal authorities! I am not sure what this even means.....when I asked the supervisor of the man who came on the line with the Capitol Police, I was told nothing. She said 'I'll have to call you back if you want more details." A few things I did learn though my research today; the Capitol Police are charged with protecting members of Congress from danger through terrorism or harassment, and answer to the entire Congress and the 'Sergeant at Arms', whoever THAT is. They do not even answer to the Attorney General. They are almost completely autonomous. And they have a file on me. Now, they won't tell me more. Barbara Cubin has 'limited' me to contacting her ofice through mail, which is Catch 22'd by the warning on her web site, and besides I do NOT trust this person with anything I would mail her. Hey, a little anthrax added by her or her staff or anything else...like a note with a threat say, and I would be hung. So that is the story folks.....I do not have the 'privilege' to contact a federal elected official, ask questions, express my views or find out if I am already on someones 'list'. Congress truly seems to be independent of the people. At least out here in Wyoming.
