You forgot to mention that while Jefferson owned slaves, he was the most remorseful of the ones who did, and took great care of them, during a time when owning slaves was no different than owning a car today - it was just simply done. While that is no excuse for any slave owner, at least he was one of the early American slave owners who began to put some thought behind it. Bush is a member of a wanna-be (and nearly-be) merchant oligarcy, and is even willing to use socialism to draw people to him. He is anything BUT a libertarian.

Shouldn't Libertarians thank Bush 1. Nixon gave us the drug war. Reagen just spent outrageous amounts of money on it. 2. Jefferson didn't violate the Constitution by sending troops to fight the Barbary Pirates. The Constitution grants government the power to send the military after pirates who attack our ships. 3. Compared to the other Presidents, Bush is the single least libertarian of the bunch. Even less libertarian than FDR, Wilson, and Lincoln combined. 4. Libertarianism isn't a scale. It's a black and white issue. It's a boolean function. It's a 1 or a 0. It's on or off. You are or you're not. You support the NAP or you don't. It's that simple. --- In Libertarian@ <mailto:Libertarian%40yahoogroups.com> yahoogroups.com, "Eric Dondero Rittberg" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Wait a second here.
