I am a member of the LPNY State Committee, and I voted with the majority to revoke the charter of the old Queens LP, on 3 December 2006.
That move was, in fact, justified. The leadership of the old Queens LP had failed to comply with the bylaws of their own chapter, in several, substantive ways, and the LPNY Bylaws provide for chapter revocation in that case. In my opinion, Tom Stevens, John Clifton and John Procida should not be LP chapter leaders. That opinion did influence my vote. I'm happy that Gary Popkin, Chris Staheli, Blay Tarnoff and Jeffrey Monheit have stepped up to lead a new LP chapter for both Brooklyn and Queens, called the Brooklyn-Queens LP.
