I know. And I know others have tried to awaken the slumbering beast
but have failed. But what else can I do but try to bring my party back
to what's right?

Agreed.

Ugh, now all my frustration from yesterday - when I tried and failed
to interest national in sending a speaker to ANSWER's antiwar rally in
DC this weekend - is resurfacing. TIMID doesn't even describe it.
Apparently they have developed a policy - formal or informal, I am not
sure - of aligning themselves with RIGHTwing groups but refusing even
temporary issue coalitions with LEFTwing groups. THAT effectively
quashes anything more than tepid antiwar statements.

And let's not forget (though everyone seems to want to) AFGHANISTAN.
Can any of us who came-of-age in the 80s not look with revulsion on
the US government's repetition of the USSR government's depredations
there? It appalls me with what ease this issue is ignored - *even
among people now talking about Iraq*.

I think you do them too much credit. Even their anti-tax rhetoric is weak.

I do NOT understand 'where they are coming from', unless it's the
Republican Party. And dammit, they can go back there!

I disagree. We will prevail, and a temporary derailment will not stop
this train.
