MODERATOR'S MOTE: A better solution would be to have no police at all. It's not
such an outlandish idea considering that the overwhelming majority of crime is
the result of police actions, such as the War on Drugs. Giving other human
being the authority to restrict your liberty is just asking for tyranny, and no
amount of oversight is going to prevent the systemic abuse of that authority.

A University of Florida student is Tasered
after asking a question Senator John Kerry,
at the UF Auditorium
Yes, the majority of police are good and well intentioned. But,
the truth is we
see abuse of citizens on a regular basis.
American Police need oversight.
They need oversight to protect the good
Police Officers from having their good
name and reputation besmirched.
They need oversight to remind cops they
work for us, not the other way around.
And finally, they need oversight so the
bad cops can be called to account.
As we all have seen by now, this student
was being peaceful and could have easily
been walked outside by the police.
They abused their power and athority,
and should be held to account.
Here is the video if you haven't seen
it 100 times on TV already.
