If they where two country clubs or what not I would 100% fully and completely agree with you; however they are not actually private, in that their rules of membership affect who can run, where and how for public office, in a way that a truly, fully, and wholly private club does not. Moreover the public does not pay for a private clubs members to run for offices within that club, whereas through sundry laws and regulation we in fact do pay--in the end--for Dems and Reps to run for office and thus the rules should not be strictly speaking a private matter, as it has a massive public effect.
