Why GM is Doomed to Fail
Government Loses Money at All Levels and
Can't Even Run a Brothel

Wayne Allyn Root, 2008 Libertarian Vice Presidential nominee

So we put government in control of General Motors?

Well, that should solve the problem!

The same people who ran our economy into the ground now
think they can make and sell cars.

Has anyone thought this through?

Government loses money at virtually everything it does.
Virtually every part of government operates at a loss.
Government can't spell even spell 'profitability', much less
achieve it.

Government is a disastrous failure at every business venture
it tries!

As far as the auto industry, even the French realize it's
a bad idea for government to try and make and sell cars.

Government runs Social Security - now bankrupt.
Government runs Medicare - now bankrupt.
Government runs education.  Government schools run through
tens of billions of dollars each year.  Yet somehow they
manage to produce worse results.  When government took
over education, America's children were among the best educated
in the world.  Today they are among the worst.

Who's looking out for our children?
Not government.

They took over Amtrak in the same way it's now taking over
GM, promising a quick return to profitability.

What happened with Amtrak?  They bleed losses every year.
In 1970, when Amtrak was founded, Congress spent $300
million to 'rescue' it, while predicting profitability within 5 years.

That was 39 years and over $30 billion dollars ago!

They are again promising a quick return to profitability.

The same people who promised TARP would protect our
banks and automobile industry from bankruptcy.

The same bureaucrats who produced a deficit of $1.75 trillion
per  year. These same  folks produced a national  debt
somewhere between $60 trillion and $100 trillion.

Our national debt is now larger than the entire world's GDP.
Do you actually believe these same people can and turn GM
around from losing billions per year into a profitable company?

Let me make a humorous comparison...

In my adopted home state of Nevada, prostitution is legal.
It's almost impossible to lose money in the world's oldest
profession.

The most profitable brothel ever was the infamous Mustang
Ranch. The owner earned so many tens of millions of dollars,
that he grew fabulously wealthy. But he “forgot” to pay his
taxes, just like Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and most
of the Obama Cabinet, it seems.

After he was indicted for tax evasion out government took
over his business.  The most successful and profitable brothel
in America went bankrupt in one year under government
management. That, ladies and gentleman, is you all you need
to know about the ability of government to run a business.

One of the biggest problems with government run businesses
is they are politically motivated, not profit or customer.

At GM they're keeping the unions in charge. Virtually nothing
has changed.  The same unions that destroyed GM with
bloated salaries, pensions and healthcare for life go on
running the workforce and now will 'help' run the business.

Government is also demanding that GM change strategy and
focus on building small 'green' cars.  These cars are the least
profitable of GMs fleet. Now that's good business sense!

It's the worst of all worlds- companies run by people with
ZERO business experience- demanding that we pay high
union wages, while we build small cars with lower profit
margins.

"Our country is run by people who couldn't
manage a lemonade stand."

This is why our country is $100 trillion in debt.  Our country
is run by people who couldn't run a lemonade stand.

The only thing Obama and his team are capable of is
closing down the lemonade stand for not getting a license.

Here's my common sense tip of the day: If government
can't run a brothel, they certainly can't run GM.
