I tried your script, but:
a) it didn't work, as you don't specify the correct include path
b) after fixing that, the resulting binary loops internal in libevent
(as in my previous tests), for libevent-2
So it's very likely that you compiled against the wrong set of include
files - how that would affect your timings I have no clue, (with luck, not
at all because you have it installed).
