Never mind, found it. eventxx is great, its directly embeddable, too :)

I also wondered about (optionally, when embedding, so not directly
relevant to eventxx) having a member pointer + object instead of a
callback when compiling libev as C++.

(the reason I would spend this extra development expense is that I want to
reply my older iom.C event loop in use by e.g. gnu gvpe and rxvt-unicode
with libev, and this would help tremendously while still keeping the
memory usage low).
