I was waiting for this discussion as well as any feedback about the API etc. 
before I blitzed through and updated everything as well as breaking backward 
compatibility.

Personally, I'm all for getting it done now as I could see this lingering, 
particularly since David said he is game to update the reduced basis support.

My plan would be to get all the new API components in place so that others 
could move to it and then within a week, say, remove the old bits.
