Seriously, libMesh is a UNIX library built to operate in a UNIX environment... Windows just doesn't cut it. Yes, you could spend forever on it and _maybe_ get it to work... but it won't ever work very well and you will always have problems going forward (because we don't test on Windows or think of Windows at all in the development of the library it will inevitably continually break on you). Further, to get any real work done with libMesh you are going to need a ton of dependent tools and libraries that you're going to have just as much trouble with on Windows... Your best bet: http://www.ubuntu.com/ If you _must_ have Windows for other work you are doing then install Linux as a dual-boot or in a virtual machine (like VMWare). Otherwise... if you are looking at libMesh then you are getting into scientific computing: and that means snuggling up to UNIX. Do yourself a favor and just bite the bullet and learn how to use a UNIXish OS (Linux, OSX, etc). It will serve you well as you continue down the path of scientific computing. Finally... I have to ask... and I am honestly being curious here.... is Sonya Blade your real name? Or just a nickname or something?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonya_Blade I apologize if you get that question all the time... I just couldn't resist! (Yes, I have spent entirely too much time playing Mortal Kombat in my life... yes I am that kind of loser ;-) Derek ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Try before you buy = See our experts in action!
