I have been using the github through ssh for sometime now. But this has
been entirely on my personal Mac laptop.

I can experiment accessing it from my work machine over ssh, but another
challenge there is that the work machine connected to the internet is MS
Windows and I don't have administrative priveleges. Too much trouble!

Things are just easier on Unix machines on the internet, but our
workstations never see the internet.

Long story short, I will get to it one way or another. :-)
