elem_id is supposed to correspond to the element id you want to grab. If
this is an adapted mesh, then I'd be wary of renumbering that ParaView
might do (I don't know if it does or not). Another thing you might do is
figure out a point that is inside the element, then just use a point
locator to get a pointer to the element.
