I used to test libMesh with openmpi 1.10.0 occasionally... but looking
through module build logs, it seems I haven't even had a copy of
1.10.0 to test with in at least a year, possibly several. It's quite
possible that we had (whether intentionally or not) a workaround for
some 1.10.0 bug at one point, then removed it without realizing.
